All poker sites are unique, depending on the way every one of their players approach the game.

You could be a losing player on one site and an unstoppable force on another site. That's how big the difference can be.

People do play in patterns, depending on the limit, game type and site image. Different sites are tough for different reasons. On one hand, a site might be tough because the players are very well educated. Conversely, another site populated mostly by beginners may be difficult to handle for decent players for the exact opposite reason. The time of the day you play on a site also makes a difference, same goes for the different types of ring games and tournaments you participate in. So, this training section is not so much about giving advice on how to play poker, but more to describe the way you should approach the playerpool on Hero Poker.

If you're coming here after playing poker on Facebook, regular home games or from a mainstream site, you should take the time to go through the 'Hero Poker' category in this training section as it will provide background on how and when you should be playing on our site.

Perhaps the key thing to remember is that poker is something you can always get better at through training and learning, but also by understanding who your opponents are.

"Listen, here's the thing. If you can't spot the sucker in the first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker."

Mike McDermott, Rounders 1998
