The first time I met Julian in Melbourne was 6 years ago on a 2/5 nlh table at crown casino. I was sitting next to him and happened to see he was listening to a track by dj scott project. Instantly I asked him about it, and we have been great mates ever since. Over the years he has taught me not only to be a better poker player, but also to be a better person in general. Julian is also a talented cricketer and probably the most 'witty' person I know. There definitely isn't a dull moment around this guy. Julian is predominately a high stakes cash game player in nlh and plo but has won tournaments live and online in both games.
One definitive thing about Julian is that he treats his mates like brothers. He will do just about anything for a friend in need. There have been numerous times when I have been depressed from poker or life in general where he has words of comfort and cracks a stupid joke to lighten the mood. In the poker scene you meet a lot of rude, arrogant and obnoxious people. For me, there are very few people in poker whom I can trust and respect, but Julian is definitely one of them.
One special attribute of Julian's I admire is his amazing ability to raise his game the bigger the stakes. To most players who play bigger games than they normally play, there is a 'scared' or 'fear' factor associated with it, but not this guy. Every time he plays 'nose bleed' stakes, his thought process and his play go to a level I have never seen before. His ability to read the game and extract maximum value from hands is truly world-class.

Hero Poker: Most memorable hand?
Julian: It was the 1st time I took a shot at the big live game in the Crown Casino with all the old school/rich gamblers. The game was 25/50 round of each NLHE/PLO. This hand was in Omaha, my starting hand was 4667. What happened pre-flop was that Tony Hachem accidentally turned over a card (4) so the flop was 3-4-5 rainbow and I was first to act. I bet out (can't remember bet sizes) and 2 people called.. Turn was a repeat 4 so I bet out again. This time only Christopher called. The River was now a 6 making me the absolute nuts and I check raised all in. Chris showed 55 for second nut full house. It's memorable in that it my 1st shot at the big live game and honestly because of that exposed 4, I reckon that Chris thought I was making a play on the pot, and that he had the absolute nuts. Of course up to the turn I was extremely behind, 2 outter lol, but even though I ended up winning on the river, it was that moment that really settled it for me to really compete and not come to point where I had to let lady luck pull me out of the weeds, although, I'm not going to mind it every blue moon or so.
