Quick Fact
Lives in Seoul, Korea
WSOP Bracelet Winner
Winnings: $679,201+

Dan Schreiber (born June 30, 1985) is a pro gamer and poker player from Troy, OH, and that is how his wikipedia entry starts. I personally met Dan about six years ago, and the first thing I remember is how damn tall he was. I was living in Seoul Korea and he had just arrived to join a professional Starcraft team with his close friend Bertrand Grospellier, aka Elky, who happened to be one of my roommates. The rest is almost history, as Elky went on to become a poker superstar and Rekrul went on to become the 2007 WSOP 5k Heads-Up Champion and one of the youngest WSOP bracelet winners.

Now a lot of people throw around the word 'baller'. A lot of young guys made tons of money playing poker and it changed them, usually not for the better. If I can say one thing about Rekrul, it's that he is always real, always himself, and it's a rare quality. And I reckon the reason why money hasn't changed him is because he always has been a baller in his own right. He has always been fearless, confidant and true to his friends. He is a prolific writer and has his own cult of followers in the Starcraft community. If you ever read through his posts, you'll find what I've written to be true. You may find him crass, witty, insightful or just plain rude at times, but he is always Rekrul.

What I admire most of all about Rekrul are his instincts, he always does things with purpose. In fact, Rek has been my poker confidant for the past few years when I was a Regional Director at Pokerstars in Asia. Besides being one of the Godfathers to my first born son and one of my closest friends, he is an exceptional heads-up no limit hold'em player and in my opinion, when he decides to, he will be one of the greatest poker players in the history of this game. He may never acknowledge that I've written that, but I have a talent to spot greatness, and he does have that in spades.

Hero Poker: Most memorable hand?

Daniel: Not necessary, the essence of rekrul would only be clouded by a hand history.
